Data Set of Screams is a data set emerging from Counting Feelings, an artistic research project by MELT, Ren Loren Britton & Iz Paehr (https://meltionary.com/) that considers what data might mean for Trans* and autistic people. In the winter of 2024 in Cologne a group of Disabled, Trans*, Queer, Neurodivergent folks and accomplices came together to scream into a data set. This practice invited stretching data sets into a form that holds our embodied and collective grievances by using our voices as collective resistance. The making of this data set is a trauma informed practice where we rehearsed how to be together while allowing for feelings of grief, anger, distrust and resentment to emerge in relation to all the structural oppressions and violences that structure our day to days. Opening a space for these feelings, and naming them as data produced space in data relations: strecthing data to include data on felt and resisted structural oppresions, articulated on other terms. This is our data set of screams, a work of our embodied collective power.
During the scream recording event an episiode of "Behind the Screens - Behind the Scenes" was produced by Sophie Emilie Beha - listen here:
